Normal treatment is 0.25-0.5 Ibs/bbl (0.7-1.4 kglm3) with hourly additions of 50-100 Ibs (23-45 kgs) depending on drilling rate and formations penetrated. Over treatment should be avoided as it may render the viscosity too low or result in a high solids build-up. Note that UMC-SAPP (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate) treatment will reduce mud pH.

UMC-LIG C (Causticised Lignite) is a causticised lignite specially formulated and chemically modified organic compound of lignite that posseses improved dispersing ability over untreated lignite.

UMC-LIG C (Causticised Lignite) is most effective in the mud systems with an alkaline ph in the range of 9to 11.

UMC-LIG C (Causticised Lignite) is normally mixed through the hopper at the rate of 5-10 minutes per sack. Normal treatments are in the range of 2-6 ppb.

UMC LIG P (Potassium Lignite) is especially used in inhibitive muds which utilize potassium and other compounds to inhibit clay activity in the drilling and in the formations penetrated.

UMC-LIG P (Potassium Lignite) is used for rheology and filtration control and as a source of potassium in all water –base muds.

UMC- LIG P contains no chlorides and may be used with other potassium–base additives to formulate low-chlorides KCL free potassium systems.

UMC-LIG P (Potassium Lignite) is normally mixed through the hopper.Normal treatments are in the range of 3-10 ppb. Higher dosage may be used in high–temperature applications.

APPLICATIONS:

UMC-FCL (Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate) is a highly effective thinner which controls the archeology of weighted and unweighted polymer/bentonite dispersed systems without causing any gelatin at down hole bottom temperatures of 350 o. UMC-FCL (Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate) maintains and controls low API and HPHT fluid loss for long duration of circulation during drilling operation. UMC-FCL (Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate) is resistant to mono and bivalent electrolytes and has stable performance in most types of water base mud systems, where the pH should be always in the range of 9.5- 11, in order to avoid foaming and degradation.

UMC-FCL (Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate) is stable at temperatures exceeding 350 oF when it is used in conjunction with chrome lignite in bentonite systems for deep drilling. The ratio of 1:2 of CL/FCL reduces the fluid loss to less than 5ml/30 min and the yield point remains in the acceptable range without causing any gelatin during circulation or in the static state.

UMC-FCL (Ferro Chrome Lignosulphonate) is a free flowing powder which should be mixed through the hopper at rate of 5-10 min per sack.
In non-dispersed systems UMC- FCL can be used at 2-4 ppb, where in dispersed systems it can be used at 10-15 ppb, At high temperature exceeding 300 oF, it is recommended to be used with chrome lignite or causticized lignite at the ratio CL/FCL 1:2, where the pH should be in the range 9.5-11.
